This has to be one of the best times yet....

I think I will say that a lot as Anthony keeps growing and changing. I loved his time as a newborn and was sad for him to not be a "baby" anymore but wow is this a great time. Tuesday we sat out on the front step and looked at all the cool things on the ground and talked about them. It started drizzling and instead of hating the water sprinkling on his head like he usually does he sat there and stuck his hand out like I was doing and felt the rain falling on him. Now most people will agree Anthony is all boy, in the way he walks with his athletic strut to playing ball with daddy and pushing cars around the room but seeing him playing out in the rain made me see his fun little boy way even more. It was raining hard so puddles were forming and he would run from one puddle to the next splashing into them and saying "agua" (water) each time. He would run through the mud like a wild man thinking it was the grandest thing around. I wish my video camera wasn't dead at the time because it was truly a fun thing to get to see. The only thing you could think while watching him playing in puddles and dirt was "boys will be boys." Have I mentioned lately how much I love my little boy? :)

Some pics

These are from the park a couple of weeks ago, he reallyl enjoyed the big sand pit they had there.

I like how the lighting came out in this one.

Daddy and Anthony working on a sand project.

I look crazy but I like Anthony's peacful expression.

Your Mom said...

Two posts in one day, what is going on here. Well I just had to share something that made me stop and smile today. Not to long ago the last thing I would have expected to hear from Randel was "Your mom just told you not to put that in your mouth and you looked at her and put it in your mouth anyway, now I don't feel bad that you are crying because I took it from you." I stared at Randel and just smiled at the fact that not only was Randel laying down the law with Anthony and being a Dad but that I was Mom. Even though we refer to each other a lot as Mom and Dad to Anthony ( take that to Mom, go show daddy) it caught me off guard to hear it. 16 months of being a Mom and it still makes me stop when I hear it and just makes me smile.

Our little boy

I keep saying I will come on here and update and before I know it the day has ended and once again I didn't post a blog. Right now Anthony is staring at himself in a mirror and he is quite fascinated by the handsome fellow he is looking at. He is walking to the mirror then runs away and looks back real quick to see if the person is still there. Then he sits in front of it and crosses his legs one way then the other then starts cracking up on his own. He is now hiding behind the dresser and playing peek a boo with his new friend and waving goodbye to him when he hides again. Pretty cute.
I have been meaning to update on how much he amazes me. 16 months old and I just can't believe how lucky we are to have this little boy who is full of love for his family and wants nothing more than to see us laugh and make us happy and proud. Ask him to hit the ball with the bat and he will hold it with both hands line the ball up properly and smack away. He will look right at you with a big smile waiting for your approval on what a great hit that is. He has even now learned that we think it's quite funny for him to dance a little jig after each hit so you will see him turning in circle waving his hands and stomping the ground after each one of his "homeruns." He also loves to read now. He will bring a book to you and say "boo" trying to say book and then crawl up on your lap and go through each page. He can now say and recognize, ball, apple, shoes, socks, dog and we have heard him say sippy cup. There are a few more that he will attempt like, goose and boat. He understands everything and will do anything you ask him to do. Works out great when you want helping cleaning the house since he will take things to the trash and will even clean up anything he spilled. Yup, he walks over gets a towel and goes and wipes up the floor.
I can't believe how quickly he went from a year ago just sitting in his bouncy chair or laying on the floor not doing much but sleeping most of the day to this active little boy who is just buzzing around me taking in everything around him. We are some very proud parents who feel blessed to have such a wonderful son.
